The Joyce Centre for Partnership & Innovation – Opening Fall 2018
The Joyce Centre for Partnership & Innovation at Mohawk College has been designed to incorporate leading-edge technologies and techniques. At 96,000 square feet it is Canada’s largest, and Hamilton’s first, net zero institutional building. Chosen as one of 16 pilot project for the Canadian Green Building Council’s Zero Carbon Building Standard, the building is designed to exceed the requirements for energy harvesting and conservation. The standard assesses carbon use in commercial, institutional and multi-family buildings in Canada.
Leading-edge technologies include:
• High-performance building envelope to maximize heating and cooling while maximizing natural light
• Green roof with extensive planted areas
• Solar panel array generating 2,500 kW
